Triple Play Umpires Camps & Clinics
Our staff includes some of the top professional umpires available in the country, with experience ranging to The Major League Baseball World Series. In addition, staffed are some of the area’s top amateur umpires to include Current and Former NCAA National Coordinators, NCAA/NAIA Regional Evaluators, Assigners and Observers from several College Conferences, and Summer Collegiate Baseball Leagues. Our current staff has over 300 years of combined professional and college experience, including multiple Professional Championships and All Star games, as well as multiple Collegiate National Championships, Conference & Regional Championships and Summer Championships, including the NBC World Series. Many of these men attended this camp as students.
This year we Welcome, Marvin Hudson (51) to our staff for our 20th Anniversary Clinic in January. Marvin has worked 25 years of Professional Baseball. Becoming a member of the Major League staff in 1999, Marvin has worked the 2004 All-Star Game; the 2005 National League Division Series (HOU-ATL); the 2011 American League Division Series (TB-TEX); the 2012 NLDS (STL-WSH); the 2013 NLDS (LAD-ATL); the 2014 American League Championship Series (BAL-KC); and the 2015 ALDS (TEX-TOR); the 2016 NLDS (LAD-CHIC); the 2016 Major League Baseball World Series (CLE-CHIC). Marvin has worked more than 2,000 Major League Baseball Games and is excited to share his wealth of knowledge with you. Marvin has a passion for teaching and is ready to be a part of the Triple Play Umpires Staff. Marvin also is the Vice President for Umps Care (www.umpscare.com), which provides financial, in-kind and emotional support for youth and families in need. Triple Play Umpires will be hosting a fundraising event for Umps Care, during our January Clinic.
Returning to the Triple Play Umpires Staff will be Clint Fagan (82). Clint who began working Professional Baseball in 2005 opened his Major League Baseball journey in Seattle in 2012. Clint, working as a rover, has worked over 430 games in Major League Baseball. Clint, who shares his excitement for teaching and helping others, host clinics in the Houston area and is the Chief Instructor for Evaluation Clinics that identify umpires for the Southwestern Athletic Conference(D1) and Southland Conference(D1), as well as the Assistant Coordinator of umpires for those Conferences. Clint also shares Marvin's support for the Umps Care program by raising awareness and hosting events annually. We are excited to have Clint back with Triple Play Umpires Family.
Coordinators and Supervisors in attendance for the January Clinic will include; Michael Fagan, The Southland & The Southwestern Athletic Conferences (D1). Doug McClure, The Great American, The Heartland, & The Lone Star Conferences (D2), The Red River & The Sooner Athletic Conferences (NAIA), and The NJCAA Division II National Championship (JUCO). Cody Whitehead, Tyler Junior College (JUCO) and University of Texas - Tyler (D3). Scott Taylor, The NCAA Division II National Coordinator.
Proper attire for all Camps & Clinics should include umpire pants, black shoes, umpire cap and black umpire shirt. All participants should bring complete umpire gear for working the plate and bases as well: mask, chest protector, shin guards and plate shoes. A jacket and other warm clothing articles are advisable for unpredictable weather.
The Camps & Clinics schedules will vary for each but, will include classroom learning, breakout sessions, cage time, field mechanics, and on field situations. A detailed agenda will be provided during orientation. Chapel services will be available on Sunday morning, for those whom wish to participate.
Camps & Clinics fees will include: Tuition, Evaluation, Saturday Night Banquet, and the opportunity to learn and improve your skills to increase your opportunity to advance as a baseball umpire. Your NON-REFUNDABLE deposit is due as your registration. The balance is due upon arrival at camp orientation. Housing is NOT included in your fee. The camp will use a local hotel as our host and we will attempt to negotiate rooms at a reduced rate. Hotel information will be provided along with your camp registration confirmation.
For all umpires not paying in full, in advance, a $100 non-refundable deposit is due as your registration. The remaining balance of is due at camp check-in. Visa will be accepted on line at TriplePlayUmpires.com for all deposits and payments in full. January Clinic tuition is $285. This will include a Saturday evening dinner/banquet.
